Material Machining
We saw in the Design phase it has been decided the material to be used.
Then, we check and locate the butted (thick part) area for marking.
When welding is conducted in the right area, it means we will end up with a strong frame.
If there is a error machining the tubes, it will originate distortions in the frame.
Thus, this process must be done carefully.
Rough cuts are done on a lathe, machining is done to both the head tube and BB shell.
Size differences are not tolerated. We use electronic Vernier calipers for fine measurement control.
The milling exact angle is confronted with the drawings for size recheck.
To ensure a precise cut, it must be correctly centered, and checked that there are no lateral twists alongside the cut.
For a perfect fit there cannot be any gaps, this will help maximizing the welding and consequently the frame strength.
